how bad do you want it?

2018-Your year to BECOME (1)I am coming to terms with the reality that as you get older, you need to make much more effort to keep your body ‘tight’. I can feel some of the folds as I write this…..

I have been quite fitness conscious for years, but in the last few months as I have come to terms with some of these ‘body’ realities, I decided to amp up my fitness regime.

My main form of exercise has been running as I love the freedom of waking up and hitting the road. However in the last couple of weeks I have battled with several injuries (I have shared my experience on my Instagram page).

Running was cool until I decided to start running long distance aka marathons. Then I realized it required another level of commitment.

Alas my ‘flabby’ stomach was not going to help me become a better runner because you need to have a strong core to endure long distance running.

I was also told by my coaches that I needed to build my leg strength because long distance running wears out your muscles. Chai!

I faced a dilemma; should I just give up this long distance running? At least they were not ‘paying’ me to run….Or should I take on the additional exercises so I could achieve my dream of running the 6 major world marathons?

Have you ever been confronted with a situation where your dreams were starring you in the face and you had to choose if you should pursue it or give it up?

That was my dilemma…. I had to take some time to remind myself of why I chose long distance running:

1. I wanted to keep things ‘tight’ like I earlier shared 🙂

2. The real reason though was that it has taught me endurance and resilience. It has made me realize that you can achieve anything you want if you put your mind to it and do ‘THE WORK’.

So I found my way to the gym and started yoga, zumba and plyo classes.

Last week Friday, after the Zumba class, I remembered I had to do my core work out. Oh how I wish the stomach would just flatten itself! If wishes were horses….

Why am I sharing this long winded story?

Because it has some similar parallels to your business.
