Before you wonder what I did, let me back track to January 2017..
Last year I did a life planning course with one of my top virtual mentors..
As part of the planning course, we were asked to create a bucket list of 100 things we wanted to do, see and be in this life time..
One of my goals was to run a half marathon(21k) and a full marathon(42k)..
You know how you create these lists but never really pay attention to it?.
Well that’s what I did. I enjoyed the exercise of dreaming and stretching myself to come up with 100 things, but once I was done, I abandoned the list, and continued life as it was…..
Then a few months later, I climbed a scale, and I was overweight! What! me overweight I thought?.
That’s when I had a wake up call and decided to change my lifestyle..
I knew I had to cleanup my diet and start exercising differently, but I did not have the mental strength to do it….
On the one hand, I thought the new lifestyle would be too expensive. Then I thought about the stress I would have to go through to cook and eat right, then exercise more!.
As I was about to give up again on the idea, I took yet another course (yes, I am always taking courses to get help in areas where I need help because I have learned that high achievers are not ashamed to seek for and receive help)..
This course was quite different from the first one, because it challenged my mindset on certain things like my health, my money beliefs, relationships and business success. Even before the course was over, I took action on my diet..
I threw away all the wrong stuff and started exercising more. After I lost the excess weight in 3 months, I decided to take on new goal from my bucket list; run a Marathon!
It was an experience that challenged both my body and mind like it has never being challenged before! It was tough! I ‘gave up’ mentally several times during the race.. . I took the picture above when I got to 21k(a half marathon) because I thought I was done!.
I was proud of myself, but I also knew that I had signed up to complete the whole marathon(42k)..
Chai! who send me?.
Then I also remembered that ‘if you want to get what you have never gotten in life, you have to do what you have never done’. .
My goal at that point was to be among the 1% of people in the world who had completed a marathon..
From that point on, it was a mental game. All the work I had done on my mindset kicked in and that’s what carried me through to the end.. . One of the things I have learned on this journey is when you choose to become a high achiever and raise your standards, you attract better quality people into your life and business..
